Start by selecting the country you are travelling in and then find your travel company:
Belgium
All bicycles must be folded. If your bike cannot be folded, you will have to remove the front wheel and carry it in the bag not exceeding 120 x 90 cm.
Eurostar
Any folded bike smaller than 85 cm can be taken in any Eurostar train. If the dimensions exceed 85 cm, bicycles will have to travel with the provider's registered luggage service, Eurodespatch.
IC (InterCity)
Bicycles can only be carried in IC trains with a luggage compartment between Belgium and the Netherlands and in IR trains between Liège and Aachen. The fee for this is € 12.
France
TGV
You can take your bike in a bike bag free of charge, so long as it is no bigger than 120 x 90cm. Some TGV trains have special storage spaces for fully assembled bikes.You must book your bike space at the same time as your train ticket. Please note that this can not be done online.
INTERCITÉS
You can take your bike for free on trains without a reservation. However, there are only 20 places available per train. On Intercités trains with compulsory reservation you must buy a € 10 ticket for your bike at the same time as your regular ticket. Please note that this can not be done online.
TER
Bicycles are welcome on TER regional train. You can take your bike with you without paying any extra charge. These are limited, and you can not book in advance, so arrive on time! On certain routes you cannot take a bike.
TGV Lyria
You can take your bike in a bike bag free of charge, as long as it is no bigger than 120 x 90cm. Alternatively, you can reserve a place for your assembled bike for € 10 in the dedicated bike room at any SNCF or CFF point of sale. Please note that this can not be done online.
Germany
ICE and IC (InterCity)
Bikes are not permitted on the ICE trains. Bicycles can only be carried in IC trains with a luggage compartment. In IC trains as well as night trains it is necessary to make a reservation for your bicycle prior to travelling. More information on how to book your bike on intercity trains can be found here.
Please note that an international bicycle ticket is required if you intend to cross any borders.

Bikes carried in an appropriate bag are free of charge. The bike must be fully disassembled.
Regional trains
Bicycles carried in an appropriate bag are free of charge. Some regional trains have storage spaces for fully assembled bikes. A ticket can be bought directly at the station. It costs € 3.50 and must be validated before boarding the train, then it is valid for 24 hours.
Thello
Bikes carried in an appropriate bag are free of charge. In this case, it is considered as a piece of luggage and forms part of the luggage allowances as mentioned above. Bike cases bigger than 160cm are strictly forbidden on board. The bike cannot be taken fully assembled.
International Trains
Bicycles carried in an appropriate bag are free of charge. Some trains have storage spaces for fully assembled bikes. The price of a bike ticket € 12 and can be bought at the station.
Italo

Spain
Renfe
To transport bicycles on the train, they must be folded or dismantled and packed with dimensions not exceeding 120 x 90 x 40 cm. The pedals must be removed and the handlebars turned 90º.
In sleeping compartments (beds, sleeper seats or bunks) only two bikes can be carried per compartment. In this case, bicycles are transported free of charge with the corresponding bike ticket (to be arranged with Renfe directly).
On normal Medium Distance Trains
Bicycles do not need to be packed, though please note that there is a limit of two bicycles per train. The cost of transporting a bicycle is € 3 per journey exceeding 100 km; for any shorter journey there is no charge.
On Commuter Trains
On commuter trains there is a limit of one bicycle per passenger. The traveller must possess a valid ticket, as there is no charge for this service. If the train is crowded and the bike cannot be boarded, the passenger may take the next train or request a refund. Bicycles must be transported in the intended compartments. Catalonia Commuter trains are determined by the local authority and these conditions may not apply.

Trains have a limited capacity to carry bicycles and consequently your ability to bring a bicycle is subject to storage availability. Additionally, on certain routes and at certain peak times bringing a bicycle is restricted. Some rail companies allow customers to reserve a space for their bicycles and - due to high demand - it is recommended to do this is early as possible. To reserve a ticket for your bicycle or to find out about peak times and restricted routes contact the train operator directly or go to your local station.
